Jumeirah Mina A'Salam

Rating:

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam is part of the opulent Madinat Jumeirah Resort, known as the Arabian Resort of Dubai. It is set on its own private stretch of Jumeirah beach facing the infamous Burj Al Arab building.

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam (meaning Harbour of Peace) is known as the gateway point of the Madinat Jumeirah Resort. The resort is home to three hotels, over 60 restaurants, the fun-filled Wild Wadi Waterpark, a stunning spa, and its own traditional shopping souk. All the facilities are linked by waterways and landscaped gardens – the look is very much a recreation of ancient Arabia.

Information & Facts

Accessibility

The Jumeirah Mina A’Salam provides two accessible rooms, which must be requested in advance. All areas of the resort, including the restaurants and souks, are accessible and the resort’s buggy service is happy to transport guests wherever they need to go and there are also elevators throughout the resort.

Additionally, the Wild Wadi Waterpark is also accessible – the pathways are easy to navigate for those in wheelchairs and many of the rides require minimal assistance for entry. Queuing is also limited.

Activities / Excursions Outside the Resort

No trip to Dubai would be complete without a desert safari adventure. Just a short drive from the city centre is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve where you can enjoy everything from buggy dune bashing (from £144), camel trekking (from £62), sand-board surfing, wildlife watching (from £45), falconry and traditional dining in a Bedouin-style camp (from £77) . Most experiences are suitable for all ages, but there are some height restrictions, so check before you book. Arabian Adventures www.arabian-adventures.com have their own booking desk onsite and can make all of the arrangements for you.

If you’re looking for year-round sun and a resort that provides so many facilities you don’t actually need to leave it to feel like you’ve ‘gone out’, the Madinat Jumeirah is it.

The resort has 2km of pristine private sandy beach, with cabanas and sun loungers, plus beach service for food and drinks – there’s no need to go anywhere else!

Digital Detox / Digital Overload

There’s WiFi throughout the resort and LCD TVs and DVD players in all rooms. Games consoles can be found at the Sinbad Kid’s Club while the Premium Leisure Club has a computer room.

Endorsement Quote

We first stayed at the Jumeirah Mina A’Salam when my son was two and even though it’s very grand and luxurious, they do family travel brilliantly. The resort as a whole really does think of everything. All the essential kit you could need for your kids can be provided and there are even buckets, spades and big dumper trucks you can fill with sand on the beach ready to play with. A kid’s menu is available at all the restaurants and the waterpark provides endless hours of fun. The resort is big, but made all the more fun when you travel via Abra (a traditional Arab boat) or via the resort’s buggy service.

Family Traveller's Recommended Family Rooms

Families should opt for an executive room or suite and take advantage of the facilities, exclusive additional lounge spaces, and complimentary drinks and snacks available in the Premium Leisure Club.

Food & Drink

Kid’s menus are available in all restaurants throughout the resort, with speciality dishes (depending on the cuisine offered at the restaurant) as well as child friendly favourites, such as pasta, burgers and chicken nuggets. There are over 60 restaurants in total at the resort taking you on a culinary journey around the world – including at the indoor marketplace, Souk Madinat Jumeirah – so the dining options are endless.

Favourites at the Jumeirah Mina A’Salam include:

  • Zheng He’s Chinese
  • Tortuga Mexican
  • Shimmers on the Beach serving food from the Med
  • Hanaaya Buffet with live cooking stations
  • Al Samar Lounge serving afternoon tea
  • Bhari Bar

And to kick-off your weekend, don’t miss Dubai’s now infamous hotel Friday Brunch – there’s lots of food for the kids to enjoy as well as a dedicated play area and entertainment.

Getting There

The resort is located 25 minutes by car from Dubai International Airport.

Hotel Shop

Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a recreation of a traditional Arabic marketplace. It’s packed with hustle and bustle and perfect for an after dinner stroll. Pick up souvenirs, crafts, spices and jewellery as well as clothing. You’ll also find snacks, a pharmacy and more restaurants.

Hotel Vibe

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam is the entry point to the numerous waterways serving the resort. It is the most boutique style of all the properties at the Madinat Jumeirah and it’s this more casual vibe that makes it the perfect choice for families.

Kids Clubs

  • Sinbad’s Kids Club (at Jumeirah Al Qasr) with dedicated kids programme, play area, climbing activities and pool.
  • KiDS (Jumeirah Al Naseem) activities, crafts, outdoor playground with splash pad, swings and jungle gym.

Location

The Madinat Jumeirah Resort sits proudly on Jumeirah Beach and is flanked by Dubai’s first ever luxury hotels, The Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the majestic, seven-star Burj Al Arab. The resort includes three hotel options: Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, Jumeirah Al Qasr and the newest opening, Jumeirah Al Nassem as well as summer houses and villas (ideal for family groups). This facility-packed resort is all about old world charm and contemporary comforts. This place encompasses the luxury and mystique of old Arabia – all that’s missing is a magic carpet ride!

Pools

The Jumeirah Mina A’Salam has an elevated pool facing the beach and the iconic Burj Al Arab building, but guests can also use the pools at the Jumeirah Al Qasr (with family area) as well as the five pools at the Jumeirah Al Naseem. There are also two indoor pools at Talise Fitness, including a lap pool and learner pool, and of course there’s plenty of splash-about fun at the Wild Wadi Waterpark.

There are life vests for the kids and lots of lifeguards around to ensure feel safe and secure if your child isn’t a confident swimmer.

Rooms

Most rooms are designed to accommodate two adults and two children (complementary under the age of 12) and are all luxuriously appointed in a contemporary Arabian style.

There is a choice of executive, deluxe and standard rooms as well as the Ocean or Arabian Gulf Suites which include generous seating areas and balcony. Or, if you’re feeling really flush, the Royal Suite can accommodate either four adults and two children (16 years and under) or five adults. This decked out room includes two ensuite bedrooms with Jacuzzi baths, kitchen, lounge, panoramic views and a large balcony. PLUS a home theatre system and playstation.

The executive rooms include a complimentary airport transfer and breakfast as well as access to the Club Executive Lounge (which has its own check-in facility) and provides complimentary drinks throughout the day plus afternoon tea and happy hour. Guests booking executive rooms and suites also have access to the Premium Leisure Lounge; perfect for families as you’ll enjoy late check out and have access to additional lounge and outdoor seating as well as entertainment facilities and a purpose built playroom for kids.

Spa & Pampering for Adults

The award-winning Talise Spa is simply stunning, and it’s BIG. Travel here by Abra boat and you’ll feel like you’re heading to a secluded spa retreat. There are 26 treatment rooms, including three couple suites offering signature experiences, facials, massages, and body treatments.

If you’d prefer a more rustic experience, there are also beach massage cabanas and a secret garden for outdoor Thai massage. For a really special treat, the Shiffa 24-Carat Gold Hammam includes exfoliation and a rejuvenating gold clay body mask and gold-infused oils.
