A 5 star luxury beachfront resort with the dramatic and beautiful backdrop of the Piton Mountains and pristine rainforest

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, is nestled in the valley of St. Lucia’s magnificent Pitons - a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 100 acres of rainforest - opening out onto beautiful white sands with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

Information & Facts

Accessibility

You are deep in the rainforest, in a valley surrounded by the Pitons which are difficult when it comes to accessibility. You have access to the gardens and to the beach and the Tuk Tuks make getting round the resort so much easier as it’s a bit of a hilly layout.

Activities / Excursions Outside the Resort

St Lucia has a range of tours which can be organised by the resort staff. Perhaps one of the more interesting ones is the Gros Piton hike adventure by sea. This involves taking a fifteen minute boat ride to the base of the Gros Piton where the hike begins. It lasts up to three hours and caters for experienced hikers only, so not recommended for beginners.

Cool off with a swim and then settle down to a BBQ lunch prepared by Chef Esnard. Theruns Tuesdays and Fridays, you must be ready to leave by 8am and it’s for a minimum of 4 people.

Best Bits for Kids

The 3-wheeled Tuk Tuks have been flown in all the way from Thailand, they’re great fun and you’ll see them been driven around the resort. Just flag one down and the driver will take you anywhere within the resort that you wish to go to.

Best Bits for Parents

The 24-hour butler service gives you your own butler who ensures your stay is perfect from start to finish. Their first task is to welcome you with drinks at the entrance of your suite, and then they gets to the job of unpacking all your luggage. The butler is on hand to answer all your questions and is happy to organise your dinner reservations.

Food & Drink

Chef Jacques Chretien is responsible for overseeing the resort’s culinary team. Due to the secluded nature of the hotel, he feels that it is important to offer as many different types of cuisine as possible. And in order to do this he is a regular visitor to the local markets and this inspires his “farm to table experience”. Expect dishes like creole fish stew, green bananas & salt fish, cassava bread, and crab back.

The Cane Bar is the resort’s dedicated sushi bar, it also has the island’s most expansive collection of rum and there is a professional “rummelier” on hand to help you select the one that is perfect for you.

The Great Room offers a fine dining experience, be sure to pack your glad rags as cocktail attire is encouraged.

The Bayside Restaurant is located next to the water’s edge so you can go in your flip flops. They serve a range of cuisines including traditional Caribbean and French plus pizzas and they have an excellent children’s menu. In the evenings you can experience live Caribbean music and, if you request it, the staff will set a bonfire on the beach.

The Terrace is located on the ground floor of the Great House and overlooks a lily pond and the Caribbean Sea.
