Best Family Beaches

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana overlooks both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, which results in a strong surf and current. As such, the hotel recommends all guests should stay close to shore when swimming and playing in the water. Lifeguards are on duty from 9am to 7pm each day and the beach closes at 6pm each day. Bali beds are available for reservation using resort credits. Daily activities like volleyball, soccer and basketball are held at the beach.

Digital Detox / Digital Overload

The Signature Family Suite is outfitted with an Xbox 360 with DVDs and games available upon request. Plus, all rooms have satellite TV channels and movies.

Endorsement Quote

Writer Karon Warren: I visited the property in November just prior to the start of the hotel’s high season. Although the resort was definitely busy, it was never overcrowded at the swimming pools, restaurants or Kids Club.

Food & Drink

There are nine restaurants included in the all-inclusive rate at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. You won’t need a reservation (although sometimes they’re a good idea), but you will need to dress accordingly when dining in these eateries. For restaurants requiring 'beachside casual” dress, plan to wear shorts, capri pants, skirts, sneakers, sandals and flip-flops. If coming in from the pool, a wrap or cover-up is necessary, and shirts are required at all times. When it’s time for “resort casual, ” go for long pants, jeans, dress shorts, and a collared shirt or polo for men. Women can choose from blouses, skirts, slacks or dresses with dress shoes or sandals. No sleeveless shirts or flip-flops are permitted. No bathing suits are permitted at any time.

Cafetto: This 24-hour cafe serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

Ciao: Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant features an Italian-themed menu.

Ipanema: Located by the Lazy River out near the beach, this outdoor restaurant offers Brazilian meats and poultry for dinner. An extensive salad bar also is available.

Isla: Located by the Isla Pool, this eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves Caribbean cuisine.

Los Gallos: This Mexican restaurant is open for dinner only.

Hotel Vibe

From the moment guests enter the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, music fills the air and velvet chairs welcome visitors to sit and take in the atmosphere. Music memorabilia is everywhere, capturing the attention of passersby. The main building serves as a busy thoroughfare in the bustling community that is the main dining and shopping center of the resort. Move on to the various accommodation buildings and the atmosphere relaxes immensely. Lush, landscaped grounds provide a peaceful horizon from room balconies, while the glistening waters of the swimming pools, reflection pools and, of course, the ocean, add to the serene scene.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel sits along Bavaro area of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This area is well-known for its extensive collection of all-inclusive resorts.

In total, there are 13 swimming pools throughout the resort. For families, the best pools are the Central Pool, where there is music and daily activities; the Family Pool, which has music, water slides and kid-friendly activities; and the water park, which has a water slide, dumping bucket and water sprays, plus a regular swimming pool and toddler pool. A lifeguard is on duty at the water park.

The other resort pools include the Bongo Pool, Moon Pool, Guitar & Drums Pool, Woodstock Pool, and Eclipse Pool. If visiting with children, parents may want to avoid the adults-only Eden Pool, which features European-style bathing; the Sax Pool, which is the “silent” pool; and the members-only Isla Pool and Sun Pool.

There’s also a Lazy River near the water park, and floats are provided.

The water park is open from 10am to 6pm Towels are available poolside from 9am to 7pm

The hotel contains 1, 775 rooms in 16 buildings, with 140 ocean-view rooms. All 10 room types are labeled as suites, although the majority are traditional hotel rooms with either one king or two double beds.
