You can chose to have a digital detox by taking the option of not paying for in room Wi-Fi, and only using it in the common areas, where it’s free of charge. Unless, of course, you have opted for the Premium level, for which Wi-Fi is included.

I recommend that you opt for the Premium Level, as this ensures an easy relaxed check-in in a private lounge. If the hotel can accommodate it, you can request a late check-out.

You will have access to the Premium Lounge, where mini snacks, soft drinks, and premium alcoholic beverages all available. Avoid the buffet crowds at the main restaurant and head to the Seafood restaurant for breakfast and dinner if you are a Premium guest. You’ll also get served a better quality wine at lunch and dinner, and discounts at the spa.

There are dedicated mini-lobbies where you can access exclusive concierge services. You will also have access to a range of international newspapers, a library of books, board games, DVDs and free Wi-Fi.

Best of all, look forward to a bottle of local rum on arrival. Once you are in your room you’ll have access to 24-hour VIP room service, a pillow menu (all the rage these days), turndown service, plus, there’s no need to hassle for pool towels once you’re poolside, as they’re available in your room. Save cash as the premium level gives you free access to the fab Pirates Island water park.

There are 11 restaurants to choose from, seven of the restaurants require pre-booking and remember to pack some form of formal attire as there’s a strict dress code for the speciality restaurants.

If your trip is for a special birthday or anniversary, it’s worth enquiring about dining in the wine cellar, where you can have an intimate meal far away from prying eyes.

The Miramar Buffet restaurant covers a huge international variety and casual dress is allowed. 

The Bohio Dominca Buffet restaurant serves typical Dominican cuisine.

El Coral restaurant is a specialist a la carte fish and seafood eatery.

Santa Fe Steak House is an a la carte specialist meat restaurant.

La Dolce Vita Italian is a high end Italian restaurant.

Kyoto Japanese & sushi bar focuses on contemporary Asian fusion cuisine.

La Fuente Spanish tapas bar & restaurant the place to enjoy both meat and fish dishes accompanied by fresh vegetables.

La Comedie French Restaurant is exclusive to Club Premium guests.

Hoyo 19 Golf Bar, the perfect place to take a break from golfing and pull up a pew at the bar to sample some international cuisine.

Sports Bar is a typical American-style restaurant and bar. You can make a night of it with the pool tables and a bowling alley.

Visit the Cigar & Rum bar to try out the delectable Dominican rums.

There are several other bars, and also a casino (for over 18s only).

Getting There

You can make it from the airport to the resort in under 30 minutes.

Hotel Shop

There is a shopping centre on the first level in the lobby, you can get everything from the basics, like toothpaste, to clothes and souvenirs. Best of all there’s a designer outlet offering labels for a discount.

Hotel Vibe

You genuinely feel as if you are populating a tiny island, the resort is enormous, with its sister, adult-only hotel right next door.

Kids Clubs

the outdoors Barcy Kids Club, located next to the beach, caters for children from 4-12 years old. It is free of charge, opens from 9am to 5pm daily, and the children can enjoy a variety of supervised activities.

The hotel has four swimming pools, two for children, a pool for adults and the fourth pool is a semi-Olympic swimming pool.

Sun Loungers and water jets are all accessible at the pools.


All the rooms have air conditioning, LED TV, a minibar (free of charge), safe, coffee machine, microwave oven, bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer.


Family Room

This is basically two rooms together, with views over the gardens or the golf course. There is a private hot tub on the terrace.


Family Junior Suite Premium Level

Have sea or garden views. With the suite you have two bedrooms both with ensuites. If your stay is between 1 May & 22 December you will also have a free ‘green fee’ for the golf course for each day of your stay.


Maximum occupancy for this suite is four adults and two children. In addition to the essentials, you have a radio alarm clock with iPod connection and a hot tub on the terrace.


Family Duplex

All have views of the golf course. The duplexes are distributed over two levels. Again you can enjoy the free green fees for the golf course each day of your stay (1 May to 22 December). The maximum occupancy for this duplex is four people.

Spa & Pampering for Adults

There is a state of the art health and wellness centre with an outdoor pool with water therapies.

Treatments range from massages to facials.

Spa & Wellbeing for Kids

You must be over 16 in order to use the spa.


There is an 18 hole golf course, designed by architect P.B.Dye.

There is a fitness studio with spin, Pilates and aerobics classes. Staff lead beach and pool time activities, golf, mini-golf, pool tables, ping pong tables, life-size chess, tennis, paddle ball. There’s a football pitch, a baseball field, multi-purpose sports track, and you can also join in with water polo.
